Is God Gender Biased? If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days ... But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks ... (Leviticus 12:1-5) While many will balk at the beginning of the next paragraph, I urge sincere truth seekers to prayerfully consider it and admit it. God's Children will seek the truth and find it (Mt. 7:7), though some will accept it before others. It is a growing process that takes time. In order for us to accept new things, we must first be willing to consider new things. Please read on, praying that God will raise us up out of the clouds of deception. Though few will admit it, it is no less true that most of us disagree with certain parts of the Bible. We know that admitting it would most likely alienate some people we like, who are faced with the same dilemma and likewise won't admit it. There's another name for that, and it's not Christianity. However, if we are to truly understand Holy Scripture, which is God's inerrant and infallible Word, we must realize that the Bible, corrupted by human influence from the very beginning, does not always perfectly represent God's will in all aspects. Some was added here, a little subtracted there, some a little skewed for expedience. If we refuse to accept that, we are allowing human redactions to stand between God's truth and us. Jesus indirectly makes it clear that the scribes and Pharisees will not enter God's kingdom. Mt. 5:20 "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." The scribes were responsible for copying manuscripts and recording the law, so God's words could be preserved intact from generation to generation. Why would Jesus speak with such certainty that they would not enter God's kingdom? What were they doing that was so unforgivable? Information within this very book might help you begin to see what that was. Women have had little influence over Scripture translation and interpretation, and those who now have a voice seem to prefer echoing and mimicking the status quo to crying foul and being rejected. Why don't we just simply and rationally admit that we have been wrong, that some of the writers and translators were too biased (even chauvinistic) to be reliable, and translate the Old Testament Hebrew and New Testament Greek (every word) as faithful to its original meaning as humanly possible, knowing in our hearts (those who have hearts) that where bias arose: sexual, racial, national, etc., it did not come from God. We must also realize that some of the prophets were/are false prophets, vying with false claims and false miracles to draw larger crowds and more money. In Lev. Chapter 12, let us be guided by the Holy Spirit, by love, and by reason; rather than lust for power and wealth, or obstinate desire to perpetuate the deceptions of the false teachers and prophets, with contemptuous and blasphemous disregard for what is clearly God's true will. Truth erodes the power of those who attempt to manipulate Scripture to their own advantage, which I suppose explains their adamant refusal to acknowledge the truth. I once read, "A lie is most convincingly hidden between two truths." What better place to pass off lies than sandwiched between God's true words? But let us earnestly seek, while asking God to show us the truth. I have trouble with the words attributed to Jesus in Jn. 4:22, "salvation is of the Jews." The theme throughout the Old Testament is that God saves; in the New Testament, that God saves through Jesus Christ. Jesus' very name means "The Lord saves." Why would He just up and say that "salvation is of the Jews," of those who would soon betray God's messenger of salvation to death? It doesn't flow smoothly with the context, "We know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews" doesn't make sense. Some say, "Well, Jesus was a Jew." Granted (and unashamedly), but that is not where His saving power was from. At best it detracts from the true Savior and obscures the origin of salvation, which is from God, through Christ - His Word. Jesus' strong censure of Judaic laws, traditions, and practices is what compelled the proponents of Judaism to betray Him to the Roman authorities with their angry cries, "Crucify him!" Don't misunderstand. I am not anti-Semitic (not in the least) just anti-lie and deception, from wherever it originates. I don't know who added that deceptive phrase, if anyone did. I love the Jews and hope they will see the light. Their only chance of survival lies not in Judaism, but in the God who created us, wherein lies our last and only hope of salvation. Some imply that logic doesn't apply in Scripture interpretation. A TV preacher said, "If it can be explained, it's not of God." What! That is good propaganda for people who don't understand something and would discredit those to whom God has revealed it. That mentality has cleared the way for some to distort and corrupt God's Word beyond recognition; for how can one dispute what cannot be explained. Those who say that imply that the omniscient God is illogical, clearing the way for endless senseless and illogical hogwash. Do you think God is illogical? Neither is He prejudiced, biased, cold-hearted, and cruel; nor willing to oppress the poor to pad the pockets of the rich, as is typical of the false prophets. More Contempt For Divine FemininityLev. Chapter 12 has always bothered me. I will just quote enough here to make a point, but you can read the whole short passage to verify. Lev. 12:2 "If a woman have conceived and have a man child, then she shall be unclean seven days." Verse 4, "And she shall continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days." Verse 5, "But if she bear a maid (female) child, then she shall be unclean for two weeks ... and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying three score and six (66) days" Note that the uncleanness and time of purification is double if the baby is a girl. Why? Lev. 12:6-7 "And when the days of her purification are fulfilled ... she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle, unto the priest ... Who shall offer it before the Lord and make an atonement for her..." If she could not bring a lamb, she was instructed to substitute two turtles (turtledoves), or two young pigeons, one for the burnt offering, the other for the sin offering. Wasn't that kind and thoughtful of those who made it a sin, punishable by a fine, for a woman to have a baby and rendered her doubly unclean and doubled the days of her purification if it was a girl? That is absurd! See Lev. 15:19-25, At least part, if not all of this refers to menses. Note verses 29 and 30, "she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young pigeons ... and the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering." Do you actually believe that God made it a sin for a woman to have a baby, doubling the days of her uncleanliness and of her purification if the baby was female? Do you actually believe that God made it a sin for a woman to have her monthly period? Would God create her that way, something as natural as breathing, and then punish her being so? Of course not! So what possible excuse could there be for such absurdity and ungodly cruelty? I think we can find that answer right here in the Book of Leviticus. First, 5:13 "and the remnant shall be the priest's, as a meat offering." Levi. 7:9 "shall be the priest's who offereth it." Levi. 7:31 "the breast shall be Aaron's (the Levitical priesthood) and his sons'." Levi. 7:33 "He among the sons of Aaron, that offereth ... shall have the right shoulder for his part." And Levi. 14:13 "for as the sin offering is the priests, so is the trespass offering." There you have it! The sin offering was food for the priests and their families. Of course, God didn't hand down those laws, but the Levitical priesthood knew that by attributing them to God, that God's Children would deprive themselves in order to comply. How horribly sad, heartless, and cruel! If God's Hebrew Children didn't transgress often enough for the penalties to keep the Levitical priesthood and their families well fed, they needed only to make some adjustments in the rules. They could make it a sin for the women to do things they could not avoid. Why didn't they go ahead and make it a sin for women and little girls to breathe? Look what Jesus said about sacrifice and offering in Ps. 40:6. "Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required." See also (God's own words) in Jer. 7:22-23, "For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you." Isa. 66:3 "He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their "abominations." Think about that. To God those sacrificial offerings were "abominations." This is somewhat of a digression, but in the same category of absurd contempt for women. Ex. 22:18 "Thou shalt not suffer (i.e. allow) a witch to live" is another ungodly addition. Imagine throughout history how many innocent women have been burned alive or hanged because of a silly superstition. Burned alive, no less! Can you even imagine the agony? How many innocent women experienced that horror of horrors because maybe another woman was jealous of her beauty or because some eccentric old man with some clout and credibility made a pass and was rejected? She lost her credibility the instant she was branded witch and met a horrible fate with no one, even those who knew she was innocent, to defend her, lest they meet the same ungodly fate. What exactly is a witch? How does one prove it? And have you ever met one cruel enough to join in the congregate public stoning death of one who picked up some sticks on Saturday (Num. 15:32-36)? Friends, we do not have to believe that ungodly garbage. We do not have to let them continue to exploit us, as have been all of God's Children from the beginning. We do not have to be gullible fools to serve God. We do not need the approval or acceptance of the hypocrites. In fact, it is impossible to have both theirs and Gods. Acting like out of control idiots is not evidence of of our rational God's Holy Spirit. Actually, the way to serve God is very simple. Some make it seem as though we have to say a bunch of elaborate words. They speak them for us, asking us to follow along, as if we are not capable or worthy to address God directly, in a way He could understand or would hear. Some say all we have to do is accept Jesus as our Savior, not even realizing what that truly means; others say all we have to do is believe, i.e., have faith, without knowing that the Greek word most often used for faith actually means faithfulness. Some have added to God's laws by trying to explain them, so that the way to salvation is confusing to say the least and burdensome at best. How would you like to know a simple way to God that you can learn in about a minute? Well, let the Holy Scripture show you. And note, I did not say easy, I said simple. God's Word Makes It SimpleInstead of focusing on the many confusing things that are difficult to grasp, as are many of Paul's (and others') writings, let's focus on a few simple things that even a child can understand. In Jn. 14:15 Jesus speaks prophetically, "If you love me, keep my commandments." In Jn. 15:17 He says, "These things I command you, that ye love one another." That is the whole matter in a nutshell, that we "love one another." Now let us find overwhelming support for it. We do need to keep the commandments against lying, stealing, violence and murder, to not desire what belongs to another enough to take it for ourselves given the opportunity; or to do anything to another that we would not want done to us. It is okay to wish we had something (like) what someone else has. That's not covetousness (or in other words lust), unless we desire it enough the take what is another's for ourselves. If we love our fellow humans we won't do evil things to them. But it is not possible to love everyone is it, especially those who do evil to us? Well, in that case we try with all our strength to treat them with love. Rom. 12:18 "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men (people)." When Jesus commands us to love one another, he means to treat people with love, i.e., with our actions and deeds, as well as to try in our hearts. See Rom. 13:8 "Owe no man any thing but to love one another; for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." Rom. 13:10 "Love worketh no ill to his neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law." Gal. 5:14 "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Most important to note is Jesus' reply in Mt. 22:37-40 when one of the Pharisees asked him which was the greatest commandment in the Law. Jesus replied: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets" (Emphasis mine). To love God with all one's heart, soul and mind would literally mean to not be willing to compromise God's Word for any reason. Though treating people with love is not always easy and is sometimes downright hard, at least, it is much simpler than the proverbial hook false Christianity has in our noses. It makes us free from them. We know what we have to do and can now concentrate on doing that, instead of all the useless ritualistic, hypocritical garbage. Now let us identify the women in Rev. 14:4 that the 144 thousand were not defiled with. "These are they who were not defiled with women." Who are these contemptible defiling women? The truth may be a breath of fresh air for those who are representative of God's half that was relegated to the footnotes (by self-serving scribes) in the redacted Holy Writ.. |
